Side by Side opens multiple windows on iPad.

By tapping it, you can switch a window to one of the 3 modes:
  • Web
  • Notes
  • Files

    • Drag the switch button to see magic.

    Sync with Dropbox can also be configured from the S button.

    Camera button inside "S" to take a screen shot of a window.

    Lock switch inside "S" for rotation lock.

    ★ Tricks about Window Size

  • Full website at full screen
    • When you have a small window, if you enter gmail.com, or facebook.com, or nba.com, you will get the iPhone version website. If you expand one window to full screen and then type facebook.com, you can get the full website. Then you can shrink it back to a small window, and refresh for one or two times, the mobile website will be back.

  • Page size too big, cannot shrink?
    • Sometimes when you just shrinked from a bigger window to a smaller window, you might find the webpage(or pdf) content unable to shrink by pinching, thus the page size is too big and you have to scroll all the time.
    What you can try here it to double tap at some area that you are looking at.

  • Can I draw things in a window?
    • Yes. Go to files and open "draw.html"
    You can also save the picture.

  • Side by Side crashes on start up...
    • You might have opened a corrupted file or a super large file last time.
    Every time Side by Side tends to restore you last session on start up, so it crashes
    Remedy:
    1. Go to the "Settings" of iPad
    2. Find "Side by Side"
    3. Enable "Emergency" mode
    4. Start Side by Side again. Now it won't crash
    5. Open some normal webpages/files in each window
    6. Go back to the "Settings" and disable "Emergency" mode

  • Side by Side becomes very slow, especially when I'm resizing windows
    • You might have opened a very big file. Close a window which you guess is the reason. (Tap the S button, a "X" is on the top left corner for closing this window.) Then it will become much faster.

  • What are the rules for Dropbox synchronization?
    • 0. Notes and files will be synced
    1. Newer files will replace older files
    2. Files on iPad but not on server will be uploadeded
    3. Files on server but not on iPad will be downloaded
    4. Deleting a file on device will also affect the file on the server
    5. If a file is deleted by Side by Side on another device, the file on this device will be deleted
    6. So for both adding files and deleting files, it is determined by whichever action that is newer
